The Crime Analysis Fellowship is a university-led, regional public safety analytics and professional development initiative. It combines applied education, workforce preparation, university-led public safety service, analytical capacity-building for partner law enforcement agencies, and technology training. Its core structure is the two-Fellow “Dragon Team,” which adopts and embeds with a partner law enforcement agency to provide crime analysis services. The Fellows receive specialized training, education, and supervision from subject matter experts in intelligence analysis, crime prevention, criminology, and police operations. They then receive and analyze actual crime data using the latest artificial intelligence applications and produce a variety of analytical products that make their agencies more efficient and effective at public safety operations. Across the course of their Fellowship, they will receive state and federal certification in crime or intelligence analysis. The Fellowship also hosts quarterly crime analysis conferences for law enforcement executives across northern Ohio in which the latest crime trends and reduction strategies are discussed. The goal is to produce a graduate Fellow who is certified in crime or intelligence analysis and has two years of practical experience in a specialized field within criminal justice. This Fellowship is nationally unique in its design and application.
